The food packaging industry uses modified atmospheres to improve shelf life and quality of nuts, wafers, snack foods, oils, skimmed milk, milk powder and many other packaged food products within various food packages such as soft packs pouches, tin cans or bottles. Model HSOM provides an analysis method for headspace oxygen that helps quality control by determining the residual oxygen in the headspace.
